Affluence: The view from Anthropology

Link to my article – Living Green Magazine

I had some fun writing this article. I went back to my undergrad anthropology days – over twenty years ago – and reflected on what Marshall Sahlin’s concept of ‘The original affluent society’ can teach us about simple living. Excuse the photo of the Maori man accompanying this article, it wasn’t my idea. Any anthropologist worth her salt knows Maori are not hunter-gatherers in the sense that Sahlins writes about. Enjoy.
